MIND LAB NEW YORK TO PILOT INNOVATIVE LEARNING PROGRAM IN BROOKLYN SCHOOL

March 26, 2008, New York, NY – Mind Lab New York, a strategy game-based program derived from the internationally acclaimed Mind Lab group, is proud to announce today the launch of a pilot program at Zvi Dov Roth (ZDR) Academy, a Jewish day school in Brooklyn, NY. Mind Lab New York also recently secured a contract with the Department of Education to bring its unique game-based program to public and private schools.

The Mind Lab program at ZDR will be conducted over 8 weeks with two groups of 9th grade students. Students who play strategic thinking skills games are able to process complex cognitive tasks as well as most adults, with data indicating that young children utilize higher-order thinking skills, analyze actions and consequences, and visualize future possibilities when playing those specific board games. During the program, students will learn how to use board games to develop critical thinking and life skills which in turn spurs motivation and enthusiasm among learners: regular education, English Language Learners (ELL), gifted and talented and special education, and leads to higher levels of individual and collective achievement.

"Mind Lab skills are a powerful, effective combination of research-based education programs that improve cognitive abilities and expand the awareness of thinking processes that can be independent of the curriculum and educational settings," said Erez Eliraz, Managing Director for Mind Lab New York. "Through this program, the learner can improve concentration, problem solving, IQ, critical thinking and memory, and decision making to better cope with educational, emotional and social situations."

The Mind Lab Method has been adopted by thousands of educational institutions worldwide. This has been largely due to the Mind Lab's exceptional training program and its broad range of innovative products, which have benefited schools, community centers, educators, children and families.

Initiated by Dr. Don Well, the principal of Yeshiva Rambam Elementary School, the educators, directors and parents of Rambam decided the time had come to create a secondary school, building on their established 50-year reputation for Jewish education in the Brooklyn community.
